City Lake Park - Emergency Spillway Upgrades

TCEQ Dam Safety Regulations require City Lake Dam emergency spillway be upgraded to carry 75% PMF. Need to identify funding for engineering design of these improvements.

La Prada Drive - I635 to Motley Dr.

Roadway, intersection, drainage and utility improvements along La Prada Drive from IH-635 to Motley Drive.

Mesquite Heritage Trail, Phase 2 (Towne Centre Drive and South Mesquite Creek)

Design and construction of the segment of the Mesquite Heritage Trail along the south side of Towne Centre Drive from IH 635 to South Mesquite Creek; then south along the west bank of South Mesquite Creek to US80; then under US80 to the trailhead just north of AMC theater. Work being pursued in conjunction with Dallas County Public Works.

Military Parkway Trail (Galloway Avenue to Rodeo Drive)

This project will connect the Downtown area to the Mesquite Championship Rodeo. It includes a 10- to 12-foot wide community trail that will run along the south side of Military Parkway from Galloway Avenue to Rodeo Center where it will then turn north to connect to the existing sidewalk at Rodeo Drive. The length of trail construction is approximately 1.7 miles. The project is being led and partially funded by Dallas County.

Large Diameter Water Valve and RCCP Replacement

This project will provide for water and sewer adjustments at the following locations throughout the City:
1. 2500-2600 Block of Northview Drive: Remove 2-inch threaded outlets on 24-inch RCCP on Northview between Motley and Baker
2. 1425 Gross Road (Gross Road West of IH 635 and Peachtree Road): Install 24-inch valve on east side of IH 635 at Gross Road
3. 1325 Gross Road @ IH 635 (west side): Add 24-inch gate valve to 24-inch water main
4. 1135 Gross Road (Gross Road East of IH 635): Adjust 24-inch RCCP water main and replace sanitary sewer below

Southeast Pump Station Emergency Generator

Begin design of an emergency generator for the Southeast Pump Station

Mesquite Paschall Park Odor Control

Design and construction of a permanent odor control system in Paschall Park.

South Parkway, West Fork of South Mesquite Creek - Paving, Water, Sanitary Sewer, Drainage and Erosion Control Project

Reconstruction of South Parkway including pavement, drainage, and utilities from US 80. Improvements to the South Mesquite Creek channel will include removing sanitary sewer aerial crossings. Construction is anticipated to be done in phases with completion in 2025.

Faithon P Lucas Boulevard (McKenzie Road to Cartwright Road)

Faithon P. Lucas Boulevard was approved for $12.86 million in the Dallas County Major Capital Improvement Program 7th Call for Projects, where the County participates in 50% of paving and drainage improvements ($6.43 million). A plan design had previously been completed by Dallas County in 2015, where the existing two-lane asphalt roadway was designed to a four-lane divided concrete section. An alignment study of the preliminary design plan will determine which aspects of the 2015 plan need to be updated. When the proposed layout in the study is approved an updated project design will be completed as soon as possible so that construction can start in conjunction with the Solterra development.

Executive Blvd and Innovative Way Paving Improvements

Reconstruction of pavement on Executive Boulevard and Innovative Way. Project will also include drainage and utility improvements.

Real. Texas. Roads.

Real. Texas. Roads. is the program name for the road repairs funded by the $125 million bond sale approved by voters in November 2015. Repairs under this program are for residential, 2-lane roadways. The repairs began in 2016. To view the current construction status of streets selected for the program, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/RealTexasRoads.

Lawson Road Safety Improvements (between Milam Road and Cartwright Road)

The City was awarded a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant of $400,000 for interim improvements to Lawson Road. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) grant will help fund 90% of the project that will add three feet of shoulder and a safety guardrail on both sides of Lawson Road between East Cartwright Road and Milam Road. Construction will begin in 2022. The grant allows immediate improvements while the city undertakes the larger project of designing the full reconstruction of the roadway. The deadline for project bidding is Summer of 2022.

Skyline Drive (Town East Blvd. to Peachtree Road)

Reconstruction of Skyline Drive from Town East Boulevard to Peachtree Road. The new roadway will remain a four-lane section. The road will be reconstructed within the existing ROW. The location of the roadway will be on the southern side of the ROW in order to provide the largest buffer between the roadway and residential neighborhood. Matthew Holzapfel Pump Station

Project to design and build a potable water pump station and associated ground storage tanks in Kaufman County to supply land within the City of Mesquite and selected ETJ with potable water from the City system.

Alley Reconstruction 2022 Project

The project is designed to replace approximately 9,570 linear feet of existing 12-ft wide concrete alley. As an additional alternate to the project, the work may include
replacement of approximately 1,510 linear feet of 15-ft wide concrete alley and replacement of 1,395 linear feet of 6-inch sanitary sewer with a new 8-inch sanitary sewer.

Town East Boulevard Phase 2 (U.S. 80 to Skyline Drive) Reconstruction Project

The existing six-lane section road will be reconstructed as a four-lane section from Skyline Drive to Forney Road and the section from Forney Road to U.S. 80 will be reconstructed as a six-lane section. The newly paved roadway will have new thick concrete pavement sections to support the large volume of heavy truck traffic. This project will also include improvements to underground utilities and drainage along the length of the project. The four-lane section south of Forney Road will be shifted to reduce the impacts of the industrial traffic on residents living in the nearby neighborhood. This shift will also allow for the addition of a walking/biking trail and an eight-foot screening wall for the nearby neighborhood.
