Ceramics is the art of creating decorative as well as practical pieces out of clay. The clay is fired at a high temperature and painted or glazed to create a permanent finish. An expert instructor is on hand to teach you how to create ceramic pieces step by step. Participants must purchase supplies.
Mesquite Quilt Guild members and friends get together at Rutherford and Evans Recreation Center for fun free time and service projects. Participants work on personal and group projects.
Limber up with a series of stretching and range of motion movements done seated and standing. The moderate exercise class utilizes exercise bands and is offered four days per week. This is a great program for individuals beginning an exercise regimen or to help maintain flexibility.
Looking for a controlled, safe environment for walking? The gym is closed to the general public and open for adults 50+ registered with the senior program.
Registered Adults 50+ participants may use the Fitness Center for free Monday-Friday during senior center operational hours.
A Fitness Center card is required after senior center operation hours Monday-Friday and on Saturday.The fee is $50 per year for Mesquite residents and $75 per year for non-residents.
Goodbar Fitness Center is not available after hours.
Scoot over to Evans Recreation Center on the 2nd and 4th Friday nights each month for the Mesquite 50+ Dance with live music and refreshments. Free dance lessons begin at 6 p.m. The dance will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 per person at the door.
Every Monday night (except holidays) Evans Senior Center is transformed into a Bluegrass jam session. Bluegrass musicians from all over the area come to play, sing and socialize and everyone is given an opportunity to share his or her talent for an appreciative audience. The session runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Coffee and snacks are served. Monday Night Jam Sessions are free but donations are accepted to help cover the refreshment costs. Adults of all ages are welcome.
Dance to new and classic country western music every Tuesday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. at Evans Senior Center. Dancing is great exercise and an opportunity to make some new friends. Call 972-285-6761 for more information.
